Day 3 - Friday October 20, 2006 (Kuala Lumpur, continuation)

When you cross the Jalan Tun Perak from the Masjid Jamek, and then walk in eastern direction, then you reach the Lebuh Ampang. In this part of Little India you find some old shop houses. Just through this sort of details I find a metropolis like Kuala Lumpur great. Hopefully they preserve this sort of details for future generations! From here I walked in the direction of Chinatown. Here I ate first something and after that I walked to the market. As expected they sell here a lot of imitation stuff. You have plenty of choice out Rolexes, Breitlings, DVD's, cloth etc.

On the crossroad with Lebuh Pudu is a monk collecting alms. When I walk a bit further it's getting turbulent in the street. Within no-time all the stalls are evacuated and the salesmen are disappeared. I wait on the things that are going to happen. Apparently nothing is happening. Within ten minutes the first salesman takes their places again. It's for me time to go back to the Golden Triangle. I walk to Merdeka Monorail station and take the monorail to Bukit Bintang Monorail station.

From Bukit Bintang Monorail station I walk in the direction of Lot 10. Then I walk in north-eastern direction to the Jalan Bukit Bintang. I walk along Planet Hollywood and Starbucks Coffee. They're building a new skyscraper; Pavilion Bukit Bintang. Further I walk al along until the Royal Selangor Golf Club. This is not an exciting walk; therefore I walk in northern direction along the embassies of Japan and the United States. Just to the north of the embassy of the United States is a foot bridge. I walk to the other side of the street and next in eastern direction to KLCC Park. In this park you have great opportunities to take pictures of the Petronas Towers. Around 4:00 p.m. I'll stay beneath the Petronas Towers and the afternoon monsoon starts raining again. Fortunately you have here a few pavements so I can wait whit a pint of Tiger beer on the end of this monsoon.

Day 4 - Saturday October 21, 2006

After breakfast I walked to monorail station Bukit Bintang. Here I take the monorail to Hang Tuah and then I take the monorail to Masjid Jamek. From here it's a little further to the bus station of Medan Pasar at the Jalan Benteng (between Little India and Chinatown). The plan is to take the bus to the Batu Caves, just outside of Kuala Lumpur.

It takes a while before I find the right bus. The bus drives unfortunately just until Pekeliling Bus Station. After worth it was better that I stepped a few stations later out from the monorail. Fortunately I find on this bus station the right bus and in about 40 minutes I get a direct ride to the Batu Caves. The endpoint of the bus ride is a little market. It's possible to take for the last 1.25 mile a bus. I'm not in the mood for waiting so I walked. It's only very warm.
